Art Washing vs. Real Cultural Alignment | Interview

ph: from Basa Studio website

When I talk about culture, I often visualise a kaleidoscope, with different pieces constantly rearranging themselves to form new, colourful scenarios.

I had a great time talking with Maya Sherrin from Basa Studio about how luxury brands can make their collaborations with the art sector culturally resonant. Our conversation explored the underlying value of collaborations between luxury brands and art, the challenges and opportunities involved in these partnerships, and some particularly relevant cases.

This, in turn, led us to consider the wider landscape, where luxury brands are developing new forms of corporate identity, technology is becoming increasingly disruptive, and experiences are moving to the very core of value delivery — which also happens to be the focus of my latest research endeavour.
